2009 Year for Priests
2009 Academic Year Short-term Summer Formation Course for Priests

Invitation Letter

Please be informed that:

To respond to the declaration by the Holy See of 2009 as the Year for Priests and to follow the instruction of the Chinese Regional Bishops¡¦ Conference, a special conference on ¡§2009 Academic Year Short term Summer Formation Course for Priests¡¨ will be held to allow all priests nationwide to have an opportunity of continuing formation. This formation is designed specially for priests who are young in the ministry.

The purpose of this course is to review and deepen the theological and pastoral dimensions of the ¡§Sacrament of Holy Order¡¨. Emphasis will be on the faith and foundation of the Sacrament of Holy Orders of the Church under the light of Christian revelation (Holy Scriptures and Holy Tradition) that is, on the three levels of ministerial priesthood, (bishop, priest, deacon) and the baptismal priesthood of the laity; discussions and studies on differences in their essential qualities and pastoral participation. With the hope of providing priests participants a space to reflect and share on these topics, so that they may realize a pastoral ministry of loving service that is more attuned to the needs of our times and to the realities of the local Church.
